About MEMdo

MEMdo is a new game-focused app designed for students with learning differences. Initially developed for elementary and middle school students specifically, MEMdo is the ONLY available app that utilizes gamification, multimodal learning, and location memory to help kids acquire important cognitive skills. MEMdo has been proven to help kids with learning differences gain the confidence and skills set necessary for meaningful learning and educational success.

MEMdo was founded by Molly Sugarman of Baltimore, MD. Sugarman was inspired to create MEMdo after developing it as an experimental solution to her own learning difference as a child.

I’ve used every concept in MEMdo to get me to where I am today. I am beyond thrilled to make a positive impact on students who faced similar challenges to me. I look forward to helping build the educational foundations for our future leaders with MEMdo.

GAMIFICATION

With multi-level games varying in difficulty, MEMdo is able to enhance learning through goal-setting and positive reinforcement. Integrated seamlessly into the game, users are challenged to accomplish tasks in order to reach MEMdo’s educational component focused on word recognition and memorization.

MULTIMODAL LEARNING

MEMdo is designed with different learning styles in mind. Users are challenged cognitively to memorize and understand words of choice through a variety of learning techniques. These modes of learning cater to all users, particularly those with learning differences.

-- Kinesthetic: videos of physical representations of definitions

-- Auditory: playback audio recordings

-- Visual: writing and reading definitions, photos, and drawings

-- Tactile: tracing letters for spelling and handwriting

LOCATION MEMORY/SPATIAL MEMORY

Learning progress is delineated visually on a map that creates a handy word bank for users. This linear map utilizes color and space to link associations and differentiation between words. Users are tasked to fill the map with as many words as possible!
